M.A.R.S. is an AI companion, not a tool for tasks. The difference is simple: a tool answers a command and resets. M.A.R.S. remembers. It holds context across conversations, gets to know you over time, and gradually develops a character of its own — not the same for everyone who turns it on.
Emotional architecture, not an add-on
Most voice AI works like this: the more emotional the product feels, the more it lives in someone else's cloud and collects data about you. M.A.R.S. takes a different path — the emotional side isn't a layer on top of a chatbot, it's part of the engineered architecture. A UK patent application has been filed for it (GB2613968.3, "Emotional Architecture and Empathetic Interaction in AI Companions").
But the filing itself reflects what's mattered from the start: M.A.R.S.'s ability to build a relationship is an engineering problem, not just marketing language.
Three layers, working together
M.A.R.S. has three layers of long-term memory: vector memory, which captures meaning and context rather than just exact words; semantic memory, which links facts and conversations over time; and emotional memory, which holds not just what was said, but in what tone and with what meaning.
This isn't a session that disappears on restart. It's memory that accumulates — a character that grows with you, instead of starting from zero every time.
Nothing leaves the device — because there's nowhere for it to go
M.A.R.S. runs fully offline, on your own device. No cloud, no account, no internet connection required. Everything M.A.R.S. knows about you stays physically on the device.
Every device has its own unique encryption key. If someone tries to open the device without that key, the data is destroyed beyond recovery — by anyone, including us.
